Iron powder (์NC 100.24, purity 99.8%) was supplied by Hoganas (Hoganas,Sweden).
Aluminum powder (AG 90/99.7 , purity 99.7%) was supplied by the Benda-Lutz company (Skawina, Poland).
The average particle size is similar for both powders (around 100 um).
The specific surface area measured by the BET method (Kr at liquid nitrogen) was 0.07 m2/g for the iron and 1.4 m2/g for aluminum.
Three different compositions were investigated : 70%Fe+30%Al, 60%Fe+40%Al, and 50%Fe+50%Al (atomic).
The powders were mixed in a Turbula mixer for 1 h and then uniaxially consolidated in a steel die under a pressure of 100 MPa.
The specimens were cylinders with 49-mm diameter and 10-mm height.
The density of sinters was measured by Archimedes method.
