Phraya Chaiyabun Memorial

Phraya Chaiyabun MemorialPhraya Chaiyabun Memorial was constructed for his heroic deeds and sacrifices for the unification of Thailand. He was the governor of the town during 1897-1902, in which he was slain by rebelling Shan tribesmen when he refused to surrender the town to them. After the rebellion was put down by government troops, King Rama V ordered a memorial erected in his honour.
