The Port has a 247 workforce of 200 staff covering Operations, Commercial, Logistics, Marine, Engineering, Technical and Corporate roles. The operating environment is highly dynamic with no two days the same.
Within the Port Services operation the Quarantine & Environmental Assistant is responsible for the maintenance of quarantine facilities and services including the collection and disposal of quarantine waste. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Technician, the Quarantine & Environmental Assistant is required to maintain accreditation and follow stringent regulations and processes and support the delivery of day to day quarantine services.
The Quarantine & Environmental Assistant will have demonstrated understanding and expertise in quarantine operations; strong safety awareness and knowledge; excellent customer service focus; be able to communicate effectively and manage workloads and priorities.
Key priorities for the role include:
Quarantine waste collection, disposal, documentation and billing
Landscape maintenance
Inspections and pest control at both onsite Port and offsite Depot
Ensuring a safe, productive and efficient Quarantine & Environmental Services team
Safety Zero Harm workplace through a Just Safety Culture
This is a permanent position operating 40 hours per day work period. Some flexibility will be required to cover peak periods.
