In order to examine the impact of leadership
roles, Bostrom et al (2003) compared
a nurse-led palliative care team
with a physician-led palliative care team,
reporting no significant differences
between the groups in terms of patients'
self-reported pain and health-related quality of life. This study, however, was
limited to these two patient issues and
there was no indication of team members'
satisfaction of, attitudes towards, or experiences
of, being in these different teams
