Eun saw the firm gaze in his eyes and she knows there is no use for argument. He want her to go, she have to go. She walked to her working room that was located next to Min Ho’s study room to take her bag. She later came out and bowed at Min Ho before she walked to the door. Before she go, she stole a sharp glance at Shin Hye and inhaled a deep breath. She then opened the door and stepped out from the apartment.
Shin Hye was confused because she doesn’t see what Min Ho wrote to So Eun and was even confused now that she left the apartment. She turned back to Min Ho and looked at him in confusion.
“Why is Kim So Eun-sshi leaving? I thought she supposed to work until 5pm.” She asked.
Min Ho smirked as he walked forward and stopped two feet away from her. His mood turned good the moment he saw her.
“I thought you would not come today after what happened that night.”
Shin Hye bit her lip upon reading what he wrote on the notepad. She cleared her throat awkwardly and pretends she didn’t see it. “You still haven’t answer my question. Where did Kim So Eun-sshi go? Why is she leaving?”
Another mischievous smirk spread across Min Ho’s face.
“Because I want to stay here alone with you.”
Shin Hye looked up and glared at him. “Not funny.” She treats it as a joke to avoid the awkwardness. She keeps reminding herself that she is here for work, nothing else.
“This is for you.” She said, pointed at the two bags on the floor.
Min Ho glanced at the bags before looking back at her.
“What is that?”
Shin Hye let out a soft smile. “Remember I told you that you deserves a reward for doing very well that night? And here is your reward.”
He narrowed his gaze, staring at the bags.
“This doesn’t look like strawberry candy to me.”
If he remembered correctly, she said she would reward him with a box of strawberry candy. Or did she buy him two big bags of candy?
She shook her head. “If you want strawberry candy I can buy for you any time you want. But this is something so much cooler than candy.” She said as she leaned down and checked something on the first bag. She then held it up and walked straight towards his kitchen.
Min Ho was confused by her action and followed closely behind her.
When they entered the kitchen, Shin Hye placed the bag on the kitchen countertop. “Do you like spicy food? I love spicy and I love spicy tteokbokki.” She said as she begins to take the ingredients out from the bag. “You are good in cooking, right? The porridge you cooked for me that day tasted delicious.” She added as she turned to him and smiled cheekily. “I’m not good in this area but I really want to try to make spicy tteokbokki myself. You will help me, right?” She looked at him with an expectant gaze.
Holding her gaze for a long moment, Min Ho let out a deep sigh before he moved to the cabinet, took out a pot and put it on the stove. Without giving her any reply, he directed her to wash the ingredients and slowly guide her to cook.
After about 30 minutes, the nice aroma of the spicy tteokbokki slowly filled the room. Shin Hye spooned a piece from the pot and brought it to Min Ho’s lips.
“Try.” She said with a sweet smile.
With her smiling at him like that, he couldn’t bring himself to reject her. He parted his lips slightly and let her put the tteokbokki into his mouth.
“How’s the taste?” Her eyes were shining with expectant.
Min Ho licked his bottom lip and nodded. He held his thumb up, giving her a good sign.
Shin Hye giggled and quickly taste one herself. “Hmmm… maatitsuhyo.”
Min Ho chuckled at her exaggerated reaction. Why is she so happy? The tteokbokki was at least 80% cooked by him. And she said this was his reward. It looks more like a reward for her. He took his notepad out from his pocket and wrote something on it.
“So, cooking is also in the list of your therapy session now?”
Shin Hye glanced at him before she put the spoon in the basin and washed her hands. She then turned back to Min Ho as she spoke. “Cooking is not in the list. Being normal is in the list.”
He shook his head, telling her that he doesn’t get what she said.
“This is what normal people will do. We work, we communicate, we have fun, and we make friends like this. We chat, we cook together… we have fun together.” She explained.
He smiled slightly as he showed her the words he wrote.
“A psychopath like me… are you sure I can be normal again?”
Shin Hye creased her brows and stared at him with a sharp gaze. “You are not a psychopath. As long as you want and willing to try, of course you can be normal again. It’s just a matter of your choice.”
His lips pursed into a hard line as he nodded softly.
“You said normal people communicate, have fun, make friends, chat, cook…”
He paused for a brief moment before he continued to write again.
“What about fall in love? Is that what normal people do too?”

The rate of Shin Hye’s heart increased tremendously upon reading what he wrote. She took a deep calming breath before meeting his eyes. “O-Of course. L-Love… is a kind of affection feeling that everyone should have. It could improve your mood and make you feel happy. It could…”
The remaining words were stuck in her throat when he suddenly moved closer, caging her in between the kitchen countertop with his arms. She looked up and his intense gaze took her breath away.
“It could what?” He asked, mouthing the words silently.
Shin Hye bit her lower lip and froze in place
Min Ho smirked at her nervousness. “Breathe…” He mouthed to her again, the same word she said to him on the first day they met.
Clenching her palms tightly in fists, she gathered all her strength and pushed him away from her. She can see that she startled him but she don’t care. She needs to run away from him before something happen.
Shin Hye quickly rushed out from the kitchen and inhaled deeply when she was standing at the living room. Park Shin Hye, stay controlled. You are a doctor. You are professional and you can’t let confused yourself. This is just a case you need to handle. He is a case that you need to settle. Her inner voice keeps reminding her inside. She almost jumps when Min Ho patted her arm, brought her back from her deep thoughts. She cleared her throat awkwardly as she pointed at the bag.
“Hmmm… I have another thing for you.” She said as she took the second bag that was still lying on the floor. Without waiting for him to ask, she held the bag up and walked towards the hallway, heading to his bedroom.
When Shin Hye stepped into his bedroom, she walked to the large window that was covered by the black curtains and put the bag down in front of her. She turned around and smiled at Min Ho who was already standing there looking at her.
“Since I’m your doctor and it’s my responsible to heal you, I think we should change to another method to make the therapy become more effective. I find that the pace of our therapy is very slow now. So this time, we will concentrate on your daily life and your surrounding. In order to pull you out from your imaginary dark world, we have to make some changes. And for the start, we should make a change with your apartment.”
A deep sigh escaped Min Ho’s throat as he crossed his arms, still staring at her. He can hear how she emphasized the word ‘doctor’ and ‘therapy’. She was trying to remind him and herself about their doctor-patient relationship.
Shin Hye took something out from the bag and held it up for him to see. “New curtain. Do you like this colour?” She asked with a smile. “Turquoise colour helps to open the lines of communication between the heart and the spoken word. It presents as a friendly and happy colour of enjoying life. This colour could recharge our spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, alleviating feelings of loneliness. It also encourages inner healing through its ability to enhance empathy and caring. It heightens our intuitive ability and opens the door to spiritual growth.”
Min Ho didn’t quite concentrate on what she said about the curtain or the colour but his mood turned bad by every passing second when she tried so hard to maintain a certain safe distance between them. She knows it very clearly that their relationship is not as simple as just a doctor and a patient now. They can both feel the tension and intensity between them. She is avoiding it but he won’t let her escape.
He took a few steps forward and stopped right in front of her. He smirked when he heard a startle gasp came out from her alluring lips. She is very nervous but trying hard to stay calm.
“I don’t think you have the right to change anything in my apartment.”
Shin Hye gulped as she looked up to meet his darkened gaze. “Since I’m your psychiatrist and my responsible is to help you, I have every right to do anything that will make you better. We have to work together and you have to cooperate with me in order to make this work.”
He let out a soft chuckle before he wrote on his notepad again.
