living with HIV, just over half (54 %) reported that HIV
treatment was easily accessible.
As predicted, sexual stigma, criminalization of homosexual behavior, and low country investment in HIV services were each associated with reduced access to all basic
HIV services.
Specifically, an increase in perceived sexual stigma was
associated with a: 0.36 mean decrease in access score for
free condoms; 0.46 mean decrease in access score for free
lubricants; 0.32 mean decrease in access score for HIVtesting, and 0.32 mean decrease in access score for antiretroviral treatment (see Table 2).
Compared to living in those that do not, living in
countries that criminalize homosexual behavior have a:
0.39 mean decrease in access score for free condoms; 0.22
mean decrease in access score for free lubricants; 0.32
mean decrease in access score for HIV - testing, and 0.31
mean decrease in access score for antiretroviral treatment
(see Table 2).
