how can fuel be taken off a cylinder without stopping the engine
if it becomes necessary to take fuel off a cylinder without stopping the engine
the fuel pump crosshead is lifted until the roller is clear of the cam peak. the by pass on the fuel valve must be open before lifting the crosshead.
A lever is supplied by the engine builder which connects to the pump cross head through a bolt and finger-plate. lifting the bolt with the lever connects the finger-plate to the underside of the pump crosshead and lifts it as the lever is pushed downwards or upwards depending on the linkage arrangement after lifting the crosshead can be fastened in the lifted position
in some case the pump crosshead is lifted by small pin on an axle. the pin is eccentric to the axle axis and movement of the axle connects the pin with the crosshead lift the roller clear of the cam
