Nuclear fission occurs when atomic nucleus splits into fragments of the same mass, so this result in a large amount of energy released. There are two advantages of fission, one is that very little fuel is required and around the world, the fuel is relatively cheap and only obtainable in small amounts. The second advantage is that the process of fission is not considered to contribute the greenhouse gases. On the other hand, the downside of fission will include a possibility of nuclear meltdown with potentially harmful effects to all living creatures nearby. Moreover, the waste products of nuclear fission are highly radioactive and they take a long time to dissolve. Also, destructive weapons can be made from these waste products which aren’t considered to be beneficial in the long run.
