Bun Phawet" or merit making of the 4th lunar month. It is one of the most important traditions that showcases the identity and pride of the people that has been held successively for a long time. "Phawet" is a name of last reincarnation of the Lord Buddha before his birth as Prince Siddhartha. Salient features in the event are the sermon on Phra Wessandon of Thet Maha Chat (The Great Birth) Which consists of 13 episodes that are to be completed within a day. The belief behind this tradition is that the participant in this preaching would be born again into the region of Phra Si Ariya Metrai - the land of happiness as per the Buddhist belief inviting Phra Uppakhut who people of the Northeast believe is a patron of the Prawet ceremony, procession inviting Phra Wessandon and his wife to return to the city, enjoy listening to the sermon on Phra Malai Muen Phra Malai Saen, enjoy the special cuisine of this fair, Khanom Jean and Khao Tom Mud (steamed sticky rice) to give away to visitors and offer to the monks in the temple.
