ถ้าคุณอยากให้ฉันออกเสียงให้ฟังMy hero inspired me to write this essay. She has contributed to the development of
science, Thailand. My hero is Dr. Nitsara Karoonuthaisiri. She is a scientist at BIOTEC,
Thailand. The reason why I choose to write about her in this essay is that she has a lot of
attempts.
Dr. Nitsara Karoonuthaisiri was born in Nakhon Sawan. Her father was a mathematics
teacher and her mother was a science teacher. Since she was young, she had been instilled the
importance of education. She liked math and studied in to science-mathematics program in her
high school. Afterwards, she won a prestigious Royal Thai government scholarship to peruse her
education in the USA when she was only 16 years old. However, she was not good at English.
She had a lot of problems when she first studied in the USA. However, she always said “During
four years, I will do my best”She finished her B.S. in Chemical Engineering (honors with
distinctions) from Columbia University, New York, in 1999. She later obtained her M.S. and
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University in 2004.
She has been honored and given many awards. She is also a guest lecturer for various
universities in Thailand. She was recently awarded “Women of Science 2009" fellowship from
UNESCO-L'Oreal Thailand. She was selected as one of the nine "Working Women of the Year
2009" by "Phuying" Magazine and one of the fifty “Women Who Will Make a Change" by "A
Day" Magazine. Although she was a country girl, she tried to adapt herself when she was abroad,
and the experience made her stronger.
From her story, it makes me know to adjust to my experience. It may be difficult. Life in
campus, I may not adapt myself .If I have attempt and intention, I can be successful.
