This study was conducted in a suburban high school in upstate New York. Four high
school seniors participated in a five-week group counseling design. Participants completed the
Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) at the beginning of the first session and at the end of the final
session. The results of the PSS were used to quantify the extent to which participants were
impacted by their participation in the group. Information regarding the research design,
population in question, participant selection methods, overview of group sessions, and a
description of the PSS is mentioned in the forthcoming chapter.
