Perceived exertion
The subjects’ ratings of perceived exertion are summarized
in Table 2. A repeated measures analysis of
variance showed no significant differences between
the mean ratings of all three checkouts for overall,
back, legs or arms. However, there were significant
time trends for all measures (overall p < 0.001;
back p < 0.001; legs p < 0.01; arms p < O.Ol), with
ratings of exertion increasing over time for all checkouts.
A significant interaction was also indicated
between checkout type and time for the overall ratings
@ < O.Ol), and those of the arms (p < O.Ol), with both
of these ratings increasing more quickly at the standard
checkout.
