Three people drowned and one was missing after a boat capsized Saturday off the coast of northern Japan, a news report said.
The men on board sent out a distress call after the 6-metre-long pleasure boat sailing in 1.5-metre-high seas experienced engine trouble and took on water, the Kyodo News agency reported, citing the Japan Coast Guard. When rescuers arrived, the boat was floating keel-up. Three people were recovered from the wreck, but they were declared dead upon arrival at a hospital.
