Students in Experimental Group I (high-intensity SM course) enrolled in
a course titled, “Self-Directed Behavior.” This three-credit course was taught
twice a week, broken into a 2-hr class and a 1-hr class. Watson and Tharp’s
(2006) Self-Directed Behavior (9th edition) was used as the instructional text.
Students were asked to choose a target behavior that they wished to modify
or improve upon by course completion (e.g., improving academic achievement,
exercise, weight loss).
