Last week, some 1,400 companies converged on Qingdao, China for the 20th annual China Fisheries & Seafood Expo.
Unlike in previous years, a new venue served to host the swarms of seafood exporters, suppliers, manufacturers and buyers for this year’s event. The Qingdao International Expo Center featured more than 30,000 square meters of exhibiting space for the most recent festivities, and welcomed visitors from over 100 countries to browse its halls.
Exhibitors from over 45 countries were in attendance and spoke of steady attendee volumes funneling throughout their booths. North American suppliers fielded many queries regarding lobster products, a species gaining prevalence in the Chinese market space. Sustainability queries were posed by attendees to many exhibitors, representative of an increased consciousness toward such matters.
Farmed salmon, shellfish and prawn products were on prominent display within the international exhibit halls. Seaweed and alternative oils were also on deck.
The China Fisheries & Seafood Expo is hosted by Sea Fare. The firm exists in the trade show space; its sister company, Sea Fare Group, has conducted market research consulting and creative services for the seafood industry since 1987.
