Students in on-line courses interacted
primarily through discussion board forums
although, in some eases, students were able to meet
outside of class because the setting was small, and
they already knew each other from other courses.
Several teachers also required group projects in
which students interacted on-line to complete
projects and assignments. Eight of the nine
participants valued student interaction, while seven
of the nine actually required student interaction in
their on-line courses. No disconfirming evidence
arose concerning this finding.
