The C-PTES measures the participants’ confidence (outcome expectations). The tool consists of 10 items and the
responses range from “no confidence” (0) to “highest confidence” (10). The possible scores range from 0 to 100 points, with higher scores indicating greater confidence. The internal consistency of this tool was high (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.94–0.96) and the test–retest reliability was good (0.64–0.80) (Shortridge-Baggett, 2001; Sturt & Hearnshaw, 2002). The
C-PTES was tested for reliability and validity in the Taiwanese population. The total average CVI was 0.83.The tool had
acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.95) and the test–retest reliability was 0.79 (Wu et al., 2008a).The
Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the C-PTES in this study was 0.94.
