Emotional abuse can severely damage a child’s mental health or social development, leaving lifelong psychological scars . A parent is a child’s everything; they are the people they should look up to, and the people who should make a child feel safe around. For a parent to tell their child “you are not good enough”, calling them names or screaming and threatening them, can do more than just lower their self-esteem. Parents who verbally abuse their children were also raised the same way. This continuous cycle passes through generations. A recent study demonstrated that verbally abused children develop interpersonal problems, physical aggression, and delinquency at a higher rate when compared to others. Due to this aggression, they may hit other children or may quarrel with the classmates (Eva). Verbal abuse causes long-term harm on children, later in life they will develop behavioral problems.
