This study and others suggest a universal standard of fair selection processes in which objective and job related measures (e.g. work sample tests, interviews) are seen as the most fair. In terms of other HR systems, there are some indications of cultural differences in voice expectations in evaluative contexts , suggesting that one culture's fair level of participation and input may be viewed as insufficient by another. Related, even universal endorsement of the principle of consistency may mean different things in practice; for example, standardization of an HR practice (performance appraisal) can be seen as unfair in locations that value self expression and see consistency as a restricting voice
