Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) A Galaxy 4020 (Mattson Instrument, Inc.) spectrometer coupled to an IR-Plan analytical microscope (Spectra Tech Inc.) was used. The detector is a narrow-range MCT (mercury-cadmiumtelluride). The spectral resolution is 4 cm-1 and the number of scans 200. The spectral range is between 4000 and 650 cm-l. The samples were measured in transmission mode and were flattened with a steel roller and deposited on a KBr pellet used as background material. The measuring area is circular (diameter: about 100 pm). The capture of spectra and management of data was undertaken using the software WinFirst v.2.1 (Mattson Instrument Inc.). Four spectra were obtained for each paint, two for the shaken paints and two for the unshaken.
