MSc in International Events and Conference Management
This is a highly intensive postgraduate programme with five compulsory units of study and two specialist pathway units. You will have the option of one professional practice placement after completing the first semester. You could either go directly onto the consultancy project or dissertation or opt for a period of five months professional practice before starting your dissertation.
Programme Objective
The MSc in International Events and Conference Management at IMI is a 12 month postgraduate degree designed to enable you to progress directly from an events based undergraduate programme onto a related Masters. The international events industry is one of the fastest growing sectors within the hospitality industry. While most other industries are suffering a downturn, the events and tourism sectors have shown a strong and sustained growth. The emphasis of the programme is on enhancing your employment opportunities in this vibrant and highly competitive sector.
The skills taught as part of the programme are transferable and highly desirable. As well as marketing management, human resources management and consultancy reporting you will develop your knowledge of events and venue management, conference and exhibitions management and examine the obstacles and planning behind the staging of ‘International Mega Events’ like the Olympics, music festivals and international exhibitions.
