1) Introduction paragraph. Tell me a little about your story in the beginning. Start with a good first sentence that tells me what the book is about. We always talk about "Titanic" in class. What's it about? (It's a tragic love story set on the ship Titanic). After the first sentence, tell me a little more. (The main characters are Jack, a poor young man, and Rose, a rich young woman.) You can introduce the main characters in this paragraph and tell me a little about the story. Here are some examples of first sentences:
a. "The Makioka Sisters" by Junichiro Tanizaki is about a wealthy Japanese family in Osaka in the 1930s.
b. "The Bridge on the Drina" by Ivo Andric is about the history of a bridge in Serbia, and the people who live around it.
c. "Harry Potter" by J. K. Rowling is the story of a boy wizard and his adventures.
