I’d like to have a review discussion about how we are going to get tube area on track. I don’t want to start the review from scratch, please come prepared with a plan detailing how you will recover and get the tube area back into a reasonable position. I’m sure there are many reasons for being so far behind but none of them are insurmountable, I’m relying on you as the manager of the area to develop and implement effective solutions.
Please keep in mind the rules of business we should be sticking to below:
• An entire colour of tube delivered to ORA 1 on the same day as that colour is being laser cut at ORA 1.
• There should be no work orders at ORA 2 older than the colour being transferred on that day.
• We should only transfer work orders from that colour on that day, not transfer ahead of that colour. Any work orders produced in advance need to be held at ORA 2 and transferred later with the full colour the work orders belong with.
• We should batch no more than 3 colours at any time for efficiency and the batching must be ahead of schedule to allow the shipping rules above to be adhered to, work can never be batched behind schedule. Anything produced in advance needs to be held at tube area.
• No regular Sunday overtime.
• Around 20% overtime being worked.
• Efficiency at 50% or more.
We can’t afford to let the tube area constantly constrain our production output. It had a significant impact on ORA performance last month and we can’t allow that to happen again this month.
