Leisure time is a precious commodity for adults in the middle of the family life cycle. A survey of parents of children aged 0-15 years put family holidays eating out and gardening by a substantial margin (Mintel,2000b). Time pressure means that many of these customers will pay for service. It also means that 'sure bet' holiday are sought, as holidays that turn out to be mediocre or poor are a budget, and transportation costs (both financial and emotional!) to remote or exotic destinations may be prohibitive for family groups. Concerns about health-care provision often exclude there destinations too.
