Antioxidants in the plasma and colo

Antioxidants in the plasma and colostrum were measured with a microplate reader using a commercial kit according to the manufacture’s
protocol. The total phenolics were determined based
on the Folin–Ciocalteu method A 250 mL amount of undiluted Folin–Ciocalteu-reagent
was added to 50 uL of sample. After 1min,750 mL of
20% (w/v) aqueous Na2 CO3 was added, and the volume
was made up to 5.0 mL with distilled water. After 2h of
incubation at 25 1C, the absorbance was measured at
760 nm and compared to a gallic acid calibration curve.
The total phenolics were determined as gallic acid equivalents (mg gallic acid/ mL sample). IgG was measured with
a porcine IgG kit
