This
is exasperating for medical professionals who are
required
to sit medical tests for registration of which
lengthy
waiting times may cause the IELTS to expire. One
recommendation
made by the Senate Inquiry was that the
Medical
Board of Australia extend the period of validity for
English
language proficiency test results to a minimum
period
of four years (Standing Committee on Health and
Ageing,
2012). Despite recommendations, at the time of
this
research, the outcomes of this Inquiry have yet to be
implemented
or at least identified in public documentation
of
the registration process of overseas trained doctors
or
other health professionals
