Most, if not all, of our everyday thinking fits this means-ends reasoning pattern. We do something (enroll in a course, major in a certain subject, accept a particular job) as a means to some other end (a college degree, a job, money, happiness). Our own thinking about work typically fits this model as well! We work as a means to an end. But can work itself ever be an end, rather than only a means? What is, and what ought to be, the nature of work, and what values are served by working? What are the responsibilities for business as a place of work?
