3.3 Compensation for victims
TRAFCORD lawyers will advocate for compensation for damages to victims of human trafficking. Under previous laws victims would have to file for separate charges under civil law for compensation after the criminal case had finished. Understandably many victims after having spent up to a year in social welfare shelters for the criminal case were unwilling to spend up to another year in shelters while a civil law suit played its course. However now under the new human trafficking acts, claims for compensation can be pursued simultaneously within the framework of the criminal case following Articles 34 & 35 of the human trafficking act.
