Dish Network knew that the decision to drop Fox News would be controversial, but we don’t think they could have foreseen just how costly the decision would be.
Just a matter of weeks after dropping Fox News, Dish has lost an extremely significant portion of their subscribers, and their numbers continue to plummet. According to recently reports, they lost nearly 90,000 subscribers—the equivalent to millions of dollars in revenue annually.
Although Fox News suffered a decrease in ratings in the first week of being dropped, many believe the program will bounce back. Cable indicates that the show is still as popular as ever.
“We think they’ve lost about 90,000 subscribers over the past two weeks tied to Fox News,” claims Tim Carey, Executive Vice President of distribution for FNC and FBN.
Dish reportedly received more than 350,000 calls and questions about their decision to drop the Fox.
