We have screened endophytes in plant leaves. The isolated
bacteria showed antagonistic activity against fungal
plant pathogens. An isolate named KL1, showed stronger
inihibition than other 34 isolates against plant pathogens
(data not shown), Fusarium oxysporum and Rhizoctonia
solani, on PDA as well as TSA plate. KL1 was identified
as Bacillus sp. from the 16S rRNA gene analysis. These
results suggest that KL1 can be a good candidate of a
biocontrol agent, and as it was isolated from a plant leave
it may have good affinity with plants, which is a suitable
characteristic in the agriculture.
