V alues
These are those things that are viewed as most important in an organizational setting, such as cost control, customer satisfaction, and teamwork.
Values exist in two forms in organizations. The first is what can be termed "espoused values," which are what senior managers or company pub- lications say the values are.
The second form is "enacted values," which are what employees infer the values to be. Although enacted values, per se, are invisible, employees infer what they are by examining the evidence found in the next two components of culture: man- agement practices and cultural artifacts. These two components are more readily observed than assumptions and values.
