This study aimed to provide first insights into S. muticum
ecology at an early stage of invasion. Seasonal differences in
growth, biomass and reproductive development and dynamics of
frond/plant ratios of S. muticum were monitored in different habitats
on the Irish west coast. Also it was investigated if site-specific
impacts can translate into physiological, photosynthetic, variation
and ultimately determine the local success and competitiveness of
this invasive species.
