The prospect for expatriate rentals in the area is improving as a result of new offices, hotels and leisure amenities. But with almost no new single-ownership apartment buildings being completed, apartments in the Sathon-Silom area were close to full occupancy at 92.3% as of the second quarter of 2015. The choices of residential condominiums for rent in Sathon are also more limited compared with Sukhumvit as Sathon-Silom accounts for only 18% of the total downtown condominium supply. Sukhumvit accounts for the largest downtown supply (33%) as the area is supported by a BTS line and more office and retail developments, whereas the lower part of Sathon lacks BTS access.
