In my more creative community engagement work, largely influenced by
community artist and activist, Graeme Dunstan, I have found that expression
of the play ethic is about having the confidence to be spontaneous, creative
and empathic across all areas of life – in relationships, in community, in our
cultural life, as well as in paid employment. It’s about placing ourselves, our
passions and our enthusiasms at the centre of our world. And it’s about
offering the flexibility and fun that play promises to those with whom we
work in community engagement processes.
