Studying morphologically similar spores developing in different locations in the gills of the chub Leuciscus cephalus (L.), Molna´r et al. (2006, 2007) found that these spores belonged to different species and could not be identified with species developing in similar locations in other fishes (unpublished data). On the other hand, Molna´r et al.
(2002) showed that plasmodia of M. pseudodispar Gorbunova, 1936 could develop in different cyprinids of the subfamily Leuciscinae.
