How to tackle corruption, attract good people to politics and address inequality will be the required discussion topics at all 840 reform forums being held nationwide starting this month.
The National Reform Council (NRC) on Saturday met with provincial subcommittees it set up to gather people's opinions on national reform beginning this month.
Pracha Terat, chairman of the NRC's committee on public participation and hearings, said both juristic and non-juristic organisations would help with the processes, according to Matichon Online.
Two forums were already held successfully and the results from all sessions will be submitted to the NRC
At the district level, representatives from all tambons or subdistricts will be randomly selected, he explained.
"Content is wide open but three topics are compulsory how to tackle graft, how to find good people who do not cheat at elections to run the country and how to solve inequality," he said.
The activity is facing budget constraints since the fund allocated was set at 200 baht per person for meals but the forums need to be held, he said.
"Each province will get a budget of half a million baht on average, 240,000 baht of which is meeting allowances for the subcommittees," he said.
Thailand now has 878 districts in 76 provinces. Bangkok, with 50 districts, is a special administration and is not considered a province.
The NRC is carefully selecting the participants using the random selection method to ensure diversity, he added.
