As promised, please find my answers to your questions in RED below. Also, please be informed that my colleague Patrick Kaczmarek (cc’d) will be responsible for all day-to-day communications with PPTV. I will however stay in the loop on all communications.
1. What can we during the live match? Anything at all in terms of advertisement, product placement, tie ins etc. What about social media interactions during the match? CAA11 answer: Generally, no commercialization, e.g. product placement, on-screen credits, etc., is allowed during Under-21 programmes. This includes the match itself as well as any pre-match, half time and post-match coverage. With regard to social media interaction, this needs to be submitted to us for approval and will be approved on a case by case basis.
2. Can we use and display graphics of players, their team logos and shirts, before, during half time and after the match? CAA11 answer: If you mean player images, these are not provided by UEFA (headshots might be provided, currently checking this with UEFA) and PPTV has to clear all relevant player/image rights separately. What do you mean by team logos/shirts? UEFA does not provide this as part of the graphics package and PPTV would need to source these themselves. Generally there is no issue, as long as these graphics are not commercialized.
3. For approval, do we need to send design of our (pptv) studio and also designs of bar graphics (lower third and side bars) that we use before, during the break and after the match? Also do we need to follow your design themes of your on air graphics? Generally all elements using the Under-21 brand need to be submitted for approval. This includes studio designs, promo trailers, etc. For all programmes PPTV has to use the graphic templates provided by UEFA. UEFA makes available a wide range of graphics which can be used by broadcasters for pre-match, half time and post-match coverage.
Highlights programmes/footage: UEFA will not produce ready-to-air highlights of the matches. However, there will be 10 minutes of match highlights provided as part of the match feed after the match. UEFA is currently preparing a play-out containing the following:
• 2 promo trailers (30”)
• Interviews with coaches and players
• Host city footage:
o 30” edits for each host city/stadium
o Up to 5 minutes of raw footage for each host city
• Goals/rushes from the play-off matches
• Match footage from host team
• Draw footage
• UEFA Respect spot
We can discuss the above and all further questions you might have tomorrow during our call. In the meantime it would be great to know whom at PPTV Patrick and I can talk to when it comes to the implementation of the rights. It will be really important that we work as transparent as possible to make this Under-21 event a full success for PPTV and UEFA in Thailand.
Looking forward to talking to you tomorrow.
