Geriatric patients, those aged 65 years and
older, make up the majority of all acutely
hospitalized patients.1 Even as geriatric
patients are prevalent in the hospital system,
their outcomes are generally poorer compared
with younger patients.1 Additionally, patients
aged $80 are reported to be the least satisfied
with their hospital care out of all age groups.2
Multiple models have been created in the past 2
decades that try to improve care and outcomes
for geriatric patients.3 Models to guide care of geriatric
patients are valuable resources to optimize
care and promote the well-being of these patients
in acute hospital settings.4
