Character of the
organization
Evaluation Agency for Research and Higher Education (AERES: Agence
d'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur) is an
independent administrative authority (AAI) created by France’s Research
Program Act of 2006. Its organization and operation were laid down by
decree no.2006-1334 of 3 November 2006. Its originality lies in the
integrated approach to assessment, and it covers all higher education and
research institutions, research laboratories and advanced programs.
