If you lack enthusiasm for teaching science, the problem is difficult, but not impossible, to resolve. The reason for the difficulty is that the problem involves a very personal dimension of your teaching We can recommend an introspective route to improvement:
1. Think about your original interest and excitement in science and teaching. What made you choose science teaching! Now, think about what you know about yourself and teaching science. What is lacking? Where did the spark of enthusiasm go?
2. List your frustrations with teaching. What are the problems you have encountered as a science teacher? What caused a burnout or your change of interest in science teaching?
3. Attend meetings of science teachers such as NSTA or NABT. This often can inspire enthusiasm through new ideas and new colleagues.
4. Form a group to improve teaching in your school. You will probably find others who share your problem, and the discussion and support.
