Chairperson and delegates,
Historically, Central Asia was the land of global political and economic activities; tales
of “Great Games” and “Silk Roads” can prove the importance of the region in trades
and cultural exchange. Recently, there have been a lot of discussions and debates about
the significance of the integration between Central Asian countries and the big potential
in energy resources such as gas and oil that the lands of the region possess. Being
land-linked with the economic empires such as China, Russia, Middle East, Europe, and
Central Asia is the linkage between these parts of the continent that can build a unified
trade body letting the free movement of goods and services happen. There is a wide
conclusion that cooperation in Central Asia can bring the prosperity to the whole
international society and the economic growth to every country in the region. Especially
in energy area where Central Asian region can take a big advantage of having a various
of natural resources since it will let them access new markets selling their energy-based
products. However, the prospective cooperation faces substantial challenges coming from
misunderstandings that have interethnic dispositions.
