Their wheel aero takes a very different approach to moving air than the garretts. Garrett GT turbos are usually 6 blade low trim compressors and comparitively *small* 10 blade turbine wheels with dual bb. aggressive match ratios. The BW airwerks turbos are 7 blade low trim compressors and *large* 10 blade turbine wheels designed to be operated as twinscroll but functions well as a singlescroll too. The above dynoplot is a particularly interesting comparison because the borgwarner is a much larger turbo, with a larger turbine and compressor wheels and it is non bb/oil cooled only... yet it mimicked the garrett, and even had some gains at the midrange.
