The phenomenon quick scan is used more and more frequently in the consultancy
business. A quick scan is a rapid company’s investigation that is often carried out by a
consultant who either focuses on a general or a specific field within the company. A
quick scan is often the first step in an advice process. Diagnosis and analysis are most
important and mere indications of solutions are put forward at this stage. Companies in
which our trainees work, however, demand concrete suggestions about solutions that are
preferably possible to implement in the short-term. This difference can be explained by
the fact that neither the post graduate programme nor the companies in which our trainees
work, consider quick scans as a first step in a consultancy process, but as a complete
whole.
