Various demographic characteristics which influence satisfaction
in housing have also been found in the literature although the
focus has been on adults. These characteristics include sex, age,
length of residence, socio-economic status, race and ethnicity
(Gifford, 1997, pp. 201–202). However, as noted earlier, not much
evidence is available on residential satisfaction for youths. It is not
certain whether the characteristics which predict satisfaction for
adults would also predict satisfaction for youths, especially
university students in Nigeria
