Overall, the work demonstrated that a serial LED-Algae-MFC-Stack, combined with a single power tracker, can generate electricity from wastewater and light. The use of light reestablished power as it resolved voltage reversals to a good extent, demonstrating the possibilities and limitations of light as a strategic tool to generate more balanced power from MFC-Stacks. In conclusion, intermittent assisted oxygenation, computerized electronic voltage control and the strategic use of light are all means to limit voltage reversals and balancing stacked microbial fuel cells.
