This module provides an introduction to the essential academic and research skills which students will need to study law at postgraduate level. The lecture programme, which is taken by all LLM students together, covers key theoretical and conceptual approaches to study and research in law covering, inter alia, positivist research methods, socio-legal research methods, comparative and historical methodology, globalisation and hoarmonisation. The module is supplemented by seminars which develop the conceptual frameworks and, where appropriate, apply the theories to substantive law.
