With AHP, important weightings are derived from accumulated experience,
knowledge and preference of different interested parties. In this study, for a better
communication with interviewees about research intention and specific terminology
explanation, questionnaire surveys are conducted primarily on face-to-face basis. A
paper-pencil-based questionnaire developed from pair-wise comparison template
tailor-made by AHP is adopted for raw data collection. Of the questionnaires, 50 are
answered by e-mail since this is a more convenient approach for the responders to give
feedback. Computer package ECproe version 11.5 by Expert Choicee Inc. is used for
weighting value manipulation. 220 questionnaires are randomly sent to young housing
consumers, who are employees in Guangzhou and aged 30 or below. A total of 172
responders answered the questionnaires. The response rate is 78.2 per cent, which is
relatively high.
