4.2.4 Other Relevant Characteristics
In addition to the three types of system characteristics described so far, other characteristics
were reviewed which affect the whole life cost and environmental acceptability of the system.
These include initial purchase cost, maintenance requirements, aesthetic qualities, durability,
re-usability and versatility of use for other functions required by the organisation or people
managing its deployment. Some of these factors are crucial to the economics of the purchase
of a system and could greatly influence the business decision of selecting the system that
would provide the best value for money.
