Little is known of the use and antioxidative effects of
isoflavones in modern sows. It was hypothesized that
dietary supplementation with isoflavones during late
pregnancy and lactation may offer beneficial effects on
the relief of oxidative stress and enhance reproductive
and lactation performance in sows. The present study
tested this hypothesis using the isoflavone, glycitein, as
a dietary supplement for primiparous sows.
