On the other hand, a web-based skills management system, which
can be implemented as a component of the knowledge management system,
can enable employees to update and upgrade their own skills. It can also be used to locate or identify people with the right skills. Once all skills of the staff along with their history are stored in a KM system, a knowledge map of
the organization can be generated. This map can show the strong and weak
points of the organization and indicate emerging trends.
